Howard Design Group was founded in 2003 with the stated mission of creating distinctive, yet livable interiors that represent the client’s needs, desires, and goals versus those of the designer. Central to our design philosophy is this: We create designs that are all about the client, not the designer.
The goal is to create a harmonious balance of design elements embraced through the extraordinary use of lighting, texture and color, create luxurious, livable spaces. Whether it’s a room or the whole house, Howard Design Group addresses each and every project, paying microscopic attention to detail. No home is alike and each project Howard Design Group undertakes is truly unique.
A one-stop shop, Howard Design Group collaborates with our clients’ contractors, subcontractors, and architects to help its clients realize their dreams for their Dream Home. When the situation calls for it, the firm has long-standing relationships with the finest resources in the field—architects, contractors, you name it—and works well with either our clients’ resources, Howard Design Group’s resources—or a combination of the two.

Howard Design Group was founded by Chicago-based interior designer Cynthia Howard. Ms. Howard’s career was launched working with world renown design firms in the industry. She began in the showroom of elite designer Holly Hunt in 1993, which provided her with deep knowledge of the industry, product and design. She then continued her career at the notable Janet Schirn Design Group while developing a comprehensive perspective on the integration of design elements across a spectrum of styles. Ms. Howard believes that each project deserves an exclusive and unique design vision guided by the needs of the client and the combined architectural and interior components. The distinctive vision is demonstrated in the work since the firm started.
Howard Design Group has completed homes in Streeterville, Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Northern Chicago Suburbs and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin as well as specially commissioned projects nationally.
With this focus on the client, coupled with a deep knowledge of the design process and partnerships with the finest industry resources, harmonious homes are the firm’s trademark.
